English Energy vocabulary

goal:

To introduce energy vocabulary to students.

objective:

Students can spell, identify, and define words on the list.

directions:

  1. Pass out list of words
  2. Give them the period to write down definitions and use the word in a sentence.

Social Studies Introduce debate idea

goal:

To conceptualize alternative energy.

objective:

Students will understand the positives and negatives of various energy sources.

directions:

  1. Divide the class in half
  2. Have each group pick a "recorder"
  3. Allow each group to brainstorm the negatives or positives of alternative energy (depending on their side)

materials: resources for them to look at

optional: computers with internet access

Math Graphing

goal:

To teach students how to plot data and graph it.

objective:

Students will know how to create a graph out of data given.

directions:

  1. Discuss and show example of different types of graphs using the overhead projector.
  2. Pass out the spreadsheet completed last week.
  3. Discuss data plotting, showing the students the first one as an example.
  4. Assign two different types of graphs to be handed in for tomorrow.

Thursday

English Quiz on vocabulary and definitions

goal:

To test the retention of the vocabulary on energy.

objective:

Students will demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of vocabulary of energy.

Science Environmental impact of current energy usage

goal:

To explore the negatives of the energy sources we use today

objective:

Students will gain an understanding of the necessity of alternative sources.

directions:

  1. Basic lecture and note taking.
  2. Write important words and phrases on board.

Students should be well underway with their own reports and have a base for their group efforts.
