Science Read an article about energy as a class

goal:

To acknowledge the research people have done concerning energy.

objective:

Students will understand the commitment that has been made toward energy alternatives.

directions:

  1. Read article aloud in class.
  2. Put children in groups of 3-4 to discuss
  3. As a class talk about three interesting things each group found in the article.

Tuesday

Social Studies Groups debate

goal:

To allow students to hear ideas from one another.

objective:

Students will learn from each other and will have expanded their knowledge.

directions:

  1. Allow 5 minutes for each side to speak (designated representatives)
  2. Allow time for questions for each side
  3. Class discussion on the points presented in each group
  4. Find out different people's favorite energy source and why

Wednesday

Science & Math Time in computer lab

goal:

To give students more time to type for their project.

objective:

Students will make progress on their unit.

materials: computers

Thursday

Math Percentages

goal:

To teach students how to find percentages using raw data.

objective:

Students will be able to calculate percentages using raw data.

directions:

  1. Pass out data from the graphs and spreadsheet.
  2. Explain the concept of percentages and how to find them.
  3. Do examples on the board using class participation.
  4. Assign homework involving percentages.

Friday

Group work day

Week four is the last structured week. Therefore, all due dates and rough drafts should now be handed in. This is to ensure that there is an adequate amount of time for corrections and changes to be made before next Friday's final due date.
