Week 5—The End Two days this week should be dedicated to finishing the project. Allow the children to work with their groups independently. The primary objective would be to let them finish their project, have teachers proof read anything necessary, ask any last minute questions, and work on their display boards. Friday should be the presentation day. The morning should be a sort of debriefing process in which the classes discuss the different sources of energy and a brief synopsis of what they learned. This is an opportunity for the teachers to get feedback as to what worked and what didn’t and how to make the unit, or even just the interdisciplinary concept, better for next time. Then the afternoon should be a time for the kids to set up the displays of their unit, including a copy of their paper, their display board, and their project. This should be set up in a science fair sort of fashion. Invite parents, and give the children an opportunity to wander around and see what their fellow classmates did. This is a great way for them to learn and give them other ideas of how things could be done. |
